A very hearty Welcome, Merhaba, Selam, Namaste, Bonjour, Hola and Hello to all of those reading this. This is my first entry in the blog ‘Humans of Bilkent’, and I will be writing in order to relate to all the readers’ lives, help them have a sense of connection with people of different ages, professions, backgrounds, nationalities etc. My writings will provide you with different and challenging aspects of people’s lives; their personal and professional problems, their happy and sad moments and a lot of their dreams and achievements. If you are looking for some motivation, positivity and an emotional connection then this blog will be the perfect read for you. My blog, ‘Humans of Bilkent’, is going to help all the people of Bilkent become familiar with each other and start to have a sense of connectivity and relatability with each other. The reason why I chose ‘Humans of Bilkent’ as my topic is because I found it very intriguing and relatable. It is an unimaginable, overwhelming feeling of being 2000+ miles away from home and lacking all the sense of belonging. Yes, I have been residing in Ankara for the past three years now yet it still doesn’t feel like home. The roads, buildings, restaurants and even my own university feels unknown to me. 3 years down the road and I am still just a stranger to my own university. Hence, this blog, because I myself do not want to stay a stranger for the rest of my university life here. I do not want to regret not interacting and not knowing the people around me. I do not want to say 'what if?', having missed a chance to make lifelong friendships with some incredibly beautiful people in my university. Likewise, I want to give all the people of Bilkent University a chance, a platform, to get to know more about the Humans of Bilkent, connect and relate to each other's stories and feel even more linked than we already are as students in this top university. Also, I’m secretly hoping that someone might find their soulmate through this blog and bless me for life. Taken together, the portraits, captions and stories will become the subject of this vibrant and diverse blog. This blog basically aims at covering the stories of the 'Humans of Bilkent', humans who will be under different categories such as International and Turkish students in Bilkent, Deans, Professors and Counsellors of Bilkent University and the Staff and workers of the campus. All of these people together complete a more than 30-year old university and therefore each of these categories will hold equal importance in my blog. My project will promote Bilkent University as an international platform to get to know thousands of great people at the same place involved in different fields. I have always been very fond of pages like Humans of New York and obviously it’s going to be my major source and inspiration, I will give great attention to detail to every post and not only try to bring to light other people's stories but also learn from them myself as well. Hopefully, one day, I will be able to make my blog as big as the page/blog of Humans of New York. My research will solely be based on a list of random but great people, teachers, dean, professors, working staff, students etc for which I will have to take permissions, visit their respected places, offices, dormitories in order to make observations, interview them, catch their candid moments, film their routine and most importantly make them comfortable enough to share their deepest stories with us. Stay tuned for the upcoming stories that may give you goose bumps, fits of laughter or moments of nostalgia.
